Mustart Level 2 electric vehicle chargers offer 240V of power, which can charge an electric vehicle up to six times faster than a 120V Level 1 charger. There are other factors that affect the charging speed of an electric vehicle.
The amount dissipated is equal to current squared times resistance. So if you have 120 V at 12 amps, or 240 V at 14 amps, both dissipate about the same amount of power as heat (the 240 being not quite 20% more), but the 240 V delivers more charge to the battery, charging faster and more efficiently.
Mustart 240V Level 2 chargers are becoming more common2, and are often included as standard features in new electric vehicles. If you’re purchasing a new electric vehicle, make sure to ask about the Level 2 charger availability. If you already own an electric vehicle (The J1772 to Tesla adapter will allow you to charge your Tesla vehicle at this station), it’s worth checking to see if a 240V charger can be installed in your home.

if you drive less than 40 miles per day, the included charger will be just fine. if you want to be extra safe and have a little more range in case of emergencies, go ahead and buy the level 2 charger. either way, make sure you plug your car in every night so you can keep it fully charged and ready to go…
The outlets in my garage did not work and i almost ran out of luck with the included charger as 2 of the 3 outlets did not work. Someone had added some 3 way outlets before i bought the house, could be a ground problem. Are there any ideas?
