Nissan Pioneers Tesla’s NACS Adoption for Ariya and Future EV Models

Nissan, the Japanese automaker, has struck a deal with Tesla to embrace the North American Charging Standard (NACS), with the transition set to commence in 2025. This marks the third evolution in fast charging standards for Nissan, having previously transitioned from the CHAdeMO standard to CCS in 2020.

Nissan’s Commitment to Electric Mobility

Starting from 2024, Nissan plans to roll out a NACS charging adapter for its Ariya models, which are presently outfitted with CCS1. As of 2025, Nissan will start introducing electric vehicles equipped with a NACS port to the US and Canadian markets.

“Our adoption of the NACS standard underscores our dedication to enhancing the accessibility of electric mobility, in line with our long-term Ambition 2030 vision for increased electrification,” expressed Jérémie Papin, the Chairperson of Nissan Americas.

Nissan’s commitment to electric mobility is further emphasized by their willingness to provide Nissan EV drivers access to thousands of additional fast chargers, instilling greater confidence and convenience for those embarking on long-distance travels.
